Develop Workflow Processes to Organize Your Team’s Work
Processes for workflow can be developed to increase team efficiency and help organize the work of your team. This requires identifying every step of your process and all those dependent on one another, and documenting them using a flowchart. This step is critical to avoiding common workflow errors like bottlenecks and delays.
Start with the Endpoint
Define the outcome you wish to achieve using your workflow. For example an achievement milestone for your project. This will help you to determine the actions such as information, technology, and the people you need in order to reach your goals. It will also help you determine whether the workflow is effective/successful.
Test workflows before migrating to production. This will ensure that you’re not placing your company at risk with insufficient or untested processes.
Define actions, condition nodes, and wait nodes on a workflow canvas. You can create triggers to initiate a workflow in the event that an item meets a specific requirements. You can also include the wait node to stop the progress of a record until a specific event occurs. Condition nodes let you evaluate records based upon the properties they are assigned to and control the progression of a record based on the evaluations.
Examine all steps of your workflow. Pay special attention to those that require handoffs. If the handoff involves people or systems they could be areas of vulnerability which could cause miscommunication or technical problems. Most often they are the root cause of bottlenecks or delays in the flow of work. Making sure your processes are documented will help you avoid these mistakes.
